Paul and Suzee Grilley Programs in 2023
We are delighted to announce that Paul and Suzee Grilley are planning to present two programs in 2023!
And we are very honoured to facilitate the registration process for those programs.
The programs offered are:
The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali
Dates: July 30th – August 6th, 2023
Seven nights, six days, 30 hours of instruction
Location: Watsonville, California
Venue: www.MountMadonna.org
Teachers: Paul and Suzee Grilley
Course tuition: €1300
Room and meals range from $624 to $1926
Description: This course explores the archetypal text of meditation in the yogic tradition: Patanjali’s “Yoga Sutras.”
Patanjali’s sayings or ‘sutras’ encompass the entire science of meditation. But Patanjali assumed that his readers had a grasp of an ancient conception of the human being called ‘Sankhya.’ This course will present the sankhya philosophy that is necessary to understand the Yoga Sutras. Then we will proceed to analyze the graduated system of spiritual development the Yoga Sutras describe.
Textbook: No text is required, but several key sutras will be chanted each day. This will give the students something to ‘carry with them’ long after the formal course has ended.
Twice each day, we will practice chakra meditation. And twice each day, we will practice asana.
Yoga and the Bhagavad Gita
Dates: September 17th – September 24th, 2023
Seven nights, six days, 30 hours of instruction
Location: Cabeceiras de Basto, Portugal
Venue: www.dalijoyogaretreats.com
Teachers: Paul and Suzee Grilley
Course tuition + accommodation: €2125 – €2550
Description: The Gita is a religious poem that is presented as a conversation between a troubled warrior and his beloved friend. It is full of beautiful passages of philosophical depth and spiritual affirmation. It has been read and studied by spiritual aspirants for over two thousand years.
Textbook: The Bhagavad Gita, translated by Eknath Easwaran.
The process of spiritual development can be frustratingly slow. A mature intellectual conviction can sustain us through the inevitable ups and downs of our spiritual life. Intellectual conviction develops from an honest effort to understand what we are doing and why we are doing it.
In addition to its poetic and philosophic teachings, there is an allegorical reading of the Gita that presents it as a system of raja yoga. We will explore this allegory and its application to chakra meditation.
